Josef Newgarden OK After Flip at Gateway

Josef Newgarden‘s dominant day at World Wide Technology Raceway ended on his roof after crashing into Louis Foster, who made contact with the outside wall in turn 4 during Sunday’s (June 15) Bommarito Automotive Group 500.

Newgarden made a dive to the bottom to avoid the Rahal Letterman Lanigan No. 45 Honda. Instead, Newgarden was pinched between Foster and the inside wall and flipped on his roof, sliding to a stop at the start finish line.

Newgarden led the race by over six seconds in front of David Malukas before the violent accident. He walked away under his own power and declined to talk with the media following the accident.
