Gio Ruggiero Claims 1st Career Truck Pole at Charlotte, TRICON Sweeps Top 3

Rookie NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Gio Ruggiero earned his first career pole on Friday (May 23).

Ruggiero set a lap time of 178.944 mph to qualify ahead of TRICON Garage teammate Tanner Gray who qualified second.

Corey Heim completes a TRICON top-three sweep qualifying in third, while Ross Chastain starts fourth. Kaden Honeycutt completes the top five in fifth.

Daniel Hemric, Layne Riggs, Rajah Caruth, Chandler Smith and Jake Garcia qualified sixth through 10th, respectively.

Stewart Friesen didn’t make a qualifying lap, suffering electrical issues exiting pit road. 

Friesen will start at the rear along with Frankie Muniz, Luke Fenhaus and Mason Maggio who also didn’t make a lap in qualifying. 

With 34 trucks on the entry list, every driver will compete Friday night in Charlotte.
