Layne Riggs will partner with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races this season, the team announced May 14.
Riggs’ No. 34 Ford F-150 will feature the colors of his alma mater where he earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at North Wilkesboro Speedway this weekend (May 17) and at Charlotte Motor Speedway, May 23.
“When I started my journey at Charlotte, I put a big emphasis on taking what I learned in the classroom and applying it to my racing career, something I still do today driving for Front Row Motorsports,” Riggs said in a press release.
“I owe a lot of my success to my Alma Mater and my former professors, so it’s special to me that I get to represent them on track. Hopefully, I can make current students and professors proud with a trip to Victory Lane.”
Riggs currently sits ninth in the Truck Series standings after nine races, with a best finish of second at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
