Trackhouse Racing has lost its appeal of the penalties it incurred after the NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway, NASCAR announced Nov. 7.
The appeals panel upheld the ruling that was handed down on Tuesday after NASCAR looked at data and listened to radio communications from Martinsville.
“We feel in the best interest of racing and to protect the integrity of the sport, it was appropriate to uphold and affirm NASCAR’s decision with regard to the NASCAR rule 4.4, attempting to manipulate the outcome of the race,” the panel stated.
Both Ross Chastain and the No. 1 Trackhouse team were deducted 50 driver and owner points and fined $100,000 each. Chastain’s crew chief, spotter and team executive are all suspended for the Championship race at Phoenix Raceway.
Richard Childress Racing, which incurred the same penalties to Austin Dillon and the No. 3 team, withdrew its appeal.
23XI Racing decided on Wednesday not to appeal the penalties. Bubba Wallace and the No. 23 team also were fined and docked points, and his crew chief, spotter and team executive were also suspended for Phoenix.
