The long arm of Formula 1 law reached out and grabbed Max Verstappen during Sunday’s (Oct. 27) Mexico City Grand Prix.
Two desperate moves made as the three-time champion attempted to overtake Lando Norris led to Verstappen picking up two separate 10-second time penalties, ending his chances for a podium finish. Norris finished second to Verstappen’s sixth, shaving 10 points off the Dutchman’s championship lead. Many, including the F1 commentary team, called this a valid execution of justice.
Michael Finley and Wyatt Watson return to discuss how these penalties may influence Verstappen going forward, if this sort of policing can be expected in the future and what Verstappen’s erratic driving says about how he’s approaching the championship battle. The pair also share their thoughts on the battle for fifth in the Constructors’ Championship and what Ferrari’s 2024 performance says about some lineup changes coming in 2025.
