Matt Mills will take over the No. 42 Niece Motorsports Chevy Silverado full time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2024, Niece announced Oct. 12.
Mills will be sponsored by J.F. Electric and Utilitra.
“I’m really excited to join the Niece Motorsports team for the full Truck Series season next year,” Mills said in a team release. “This is a great opportunity for me to get into top-tier equipment. It felt good to get on track this year and show speed, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to continue that. I’m so thankful to everyone at J.F. Electric and Utilitra for believing in me and their continued support.”
Mills has made two Truck starts in 2023, at Richmond Raceway and The Milwaukee Mile, both for Kyle Busch Motorsports. He recorded a career best finish of fifth at Richmond.
“I think a lot of people took notice of Matt this year at Richmond and Milwaukee,” Cody Efaw, Niece’s GM, added. “He’ll be a great addition to our organization as we look to continue the success the [No.] 42 team had this season.
“Matt has a lot of laps under his belt in both the Truck and Xfinity series. It’s tough to get in these trucks just a few times a year and show speed like Matt did, so I think there will be a lot of growth next season as he’s able to race week after week.”
Mills replaces Carson Hocevar, who is moving to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2024 with Spire Motorsports. Entering the final two races of the season, Hocevar has three wins, 10 top fives and 12 top 10s and sits second in points.
In all since 2016, Mills has 23 Truck starts, with one top five and top 10. He has also made 123 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts and has made one Cup appearance.
Mills is the first driver to be added to Niece’s Truck stable in 2024. Currently the team fields three full-time trucks plus one part-time effort.

Good for him I’ll also wish him good luck for next season with niece motorsports and driving the number 42 truck as well.
