Bubba Wallace Wins 2nd Career Cup Pole at Texas

Bubba Wallace has taken the pole position for the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Texas Motor Speedway Saturday (Sept. 23) with a lap at 188.337 mph. It is his second career pole in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Chris Buescher and Brad Keselowski will line up second and third, putting both Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing entries on the podium to start the event. Buescher came to the line with a lap at 188.081 mph, while Keselowski drove his Mustang to a lap at 187.891 mph. They were the only Fords to make it to the second round of qualifying.

Ty Gibbs and Ross Chastain round out the top five while the rest of the top 10 is filled in by AJ Allmendinger, Daniel Suarez, Kyle Busch, Christopher Bell, and Denny Hamlin.

Hamlin qualified 10th following an aborted lap where he nearly impacted the backstretch wall. Meanwhile, Bell managed to qualify ninth despite spinning in practice.

Several playoff drivers did not advance to the second round of qualifying. This includes both Hendrick Motorsports contenders, led by Kyle Larson, who just missed the mark, qualifying in the 11th position. Defending race winner Tyler Reddick qualified 15th, Martin Truex Jr. in 16th, William Byron in 18th, and Ryan Blaney in 23rd.

Non-playoff drivers Chase Elliott and Joey Logano qualified well off the pace in 20th and 29th respectively. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. spun on his up-to-speed lap and was permitted by NASCAR to change all four tires due to the fact he had not taken the green flag. He ended up qualifying in 24th.
