Several Cup, Xfinity & Truck Teams Penalized after Michigan, Gateway

The penalty report was released Aug. 25 after this past weekend’s NASCAR Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Truck series events at Michigan International Speedway and World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

The No. 23 crew chief of Bubba Wallace (Mike Wheeler) and No. 51 crew chief Cody Ware (Mike Hillman) were fined $10,000 for their cars having an unsecured lug nut after the Cup event at Michigan.

Additionally, Ross Chastain’s No. 42 crew member David Fero is suspended for the regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway due to loss of an axle.

Xfinity winner AJ Allmendinger’s crew chief, Jason Trinchere, was fined $5,000 for a lug nut not secured after the race. Also, Derek Kraus‘ No. 19 truck was found to have a loose lug nut after Gateway; his crew chief Mike Hillman was hit with a $2,500 penalty.

Lastly, Xfinity crew member Brian Thomas is indefinitely suspended from NASCAR for a behavioral violation. According to the NASCAR rosters, he was the No. 0 JD Motorsports hauler driver at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
