Justin Haley to Miss Dover for COVID-19 Protocols, Zane Smith & Josh Berry to Replace Him

Justin Haley will not compete in this weekend’s races at Dover International Speedway due to COVID-19 protocols, Kaulig Racing announced Friday morning (May 14).

Haley, who has six top-10 finishes through nine races this season, will be replaced in the No. 11 Chevrolet by Zane Smith. Haley enters the weekend sixth in Xfinity Series points.

“Kaulig Racing continues to full adhere to NASCAR’s safety protocols, as well the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, to ensure the safety of its employees and fellow competitors,” Kaulig Racing said in a statement.

In the NASCAR Cup Series, Haley was slated to drive the No. 77 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports. He will be replaced by Josh Berry, who will now make his Cup Series debut.

Smith is in the midst of his second full-time Camping World Truck Series season for GMS Racing and has two victories to his name. The 21-year-old made 10 Xfinity Series starts in 2019 for JR Motorsports, a stint which included two races at Dover where he finished ninth twice.

Berry has competed in all but one race for JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series this season, picking up his first career victory at Martinsville Speedway on April 11.
