Jack Wood Driving 2 Truck Races for GMS

Jack Wood will compete in two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races this year, GMS Racing announced May 13.

Wood will drive the No. 24 Chevrolet in the next two races at Circuit of the Americas on May 22 and Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 28.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to get in a top-tier truck, especially at a racetrack like COTA,” Wood said in a team release. “It’s going to be a long day of learning for me, but I’m excited for the challenge. I can’t thank everybody at Chevrolet and GMS enough for giving me a shot.”

The No. 24 was previously driven by Raphael Lessard, who is now out of the ride due to sponsorship issues. Ryan Reed also drove the truck in the series’ previous event.

The Truck race on May 22 at COTA is the same day as the upcoming ARCA Menards Series race at Toledo Speedway. Although GMS did not announce its ARCA plans for that day, Wood previously was confirmed as a full-time ARCA driver.

ARCA will race at Charlotte the day after the Truck race there.

Wood joined GMS this year after competing part time in the ARCA Menards Series West the previous two years. Overall, Wood has made 20 career starts across all three ARCA series, with two top fives and 10 top 10s.

Thus far this ARCA season, Wood has one top five, a fourth-place finish in the most recent race at Kansas Speedway, and two top 10s. He currently is sixth in the point standings.
