Bubba Wallace held the fastest lap in the first NASCAR Cup Series practice of the 2021 season at Daytona International Speedway.
His No. 23 car of 23XI Racing went 199.747 mph, leading a chain of Toyotas across the speed chart for much of the session.
The Joe Gibbs Racing squad of Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Christopher Bell took the rest of the top five.
Jamie McMurray and Corey LaJoie’s two Chevrolets jumped up to sixth and seventh, posting the final two speeds above 199 mph. The Fords of Michael McDowell, Ryan Newman and Cole Custer rounded out the top 10 fastest laps.

The Toyotas, led by Wallace, also took the top five quickest 10-lap averages in this session.
Most of the Chevrolets opted to practice for qualifying, going out one at a time instead of in the draft.
All 44 cars went out on track during this period.
The Daytona 500 qualifying is set to run at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air on Fox Sports 1.
