Precipitation Delays Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 NASCAR Cup Series Race

Sunday’s Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 at Texas Motor Speedway has been delayed by precipitation in the area resulting from low cloud cover.

The race was red-flagged 52 laps into the Sunday (Oct. 26) event, eventually prompting teams to place protective covers on their respective cars with Clint Bowyer scored as the leader.

Prior to the stoppage, two championship contenders experienced problems. Kevin Harvick made contact with the outside wall, sustaining minor damage. Denny Hamlin also washed up outside of the racing groove, losing substantial track position. The 2020 championship favorites currently hover less than a dozen points above the cutline.

At the time of the red flag, Hamlin and 15th and Harvick was 36th, the first car one lap down. But this race will not be official; if the misting continues, the race will be postponed until Monday (Oct. 26).

Things ain’t looking very good for getting this race in, at all. And, if the forecast can be believed next week ain’t looking any better at Martinsville.
