Ryan Blaney Re-Signs With Team Penske

Ryan Blaney has signed a contract extension with Team Penske in the NASCAR Cup Series that will keep him with the organization long past the 2020 season, the team announced Friday (March 6).

Blaney has signed a multi-year extension with the team. The 26-year-old currently drives its No. 12 Ford.

“Ryan is a true talent with a long runway ahead of him and we are excited to have him as a part of the future of Team Penske,” team owner Roger Penske said in a team release. “Since joining our team, Ryan has developed into a championship-caliber driver and his personality and engagement with fans has made him a terrific ambassador for NASCAR. In addition, Ryan has done a great job of working with our partners to support their activation and investment throughout each year. I am looking forward to even more success together.”

“I’ve always said, it’s been a lifelong dream to be able to drive a racecar for Roger Penske,” Blaney said. “I am proud of what we have accomplished with the No. 12 Team Penske Ford. It’s really exciting to know I will continue to drive for this organization in 2021 and beyond. I am fortunate to be surrounded by extremely talented people throughout the organization and have no doubt we will continue to compete for wins and championships well into the future.”

Blaney is currently in his fifth full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series. In 165 career starts, he has three wins, 28 top fives and 60 top-10 finishes. Last season, he earned a career-best finish in the championship standings with a seventh-place finish. After three races this season, he leads the Cup point standings.

Great to hear Ryan is set with Penske. I remember noticing him in the Busch series and thought this kid was going places. Told a friend of mine when he came to Cup to keep an eye on him. When Gordon retired I jumped on Blaney’s wagon. IMO he has a bright future. Also remember rooting for his dad Dave back in the day.

Love it! Congrats Ryan!
