Anthony Alfredo is moving up to the NASCAR Xfinity Series for the 2020 season.
Richard Childress Racing announced it has tapped the NASCAR Next driver for the No. 21. He will share driving duties with Myatt Snider.
“It’s an honor to have the opportunity to compete in the Xfinity Series for Richard Childress Racing in 2020,” Alfredo said in a team release. “It’s every racer’s dream to drive for such an iconic organization like RCR. I’m very thankful for everyone that has helped put this together, including my family, friends and our partners. This is a career-making opportunity for me, and I plan to take full advantage of it.”
Alfredo competed in 13 events in the Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series for DGR-Crosley in 2019. He earned two top 10s and scored his best finish of eighth at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“I’ve watched Anthony drive in the Truck Series this past season and I’m certain he’ll do well in our Xfinity Series cars,” Richard Childress, chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing, said. “RCR has had a lot of success over the years producing young, talented drivers through our development program. I believe that Anthony will fit right into that same mold.”
Alfredo also raced full time in the K&N Pro Series East in 2018. He earned one win, four top fives and nine top 10s in 14 events.
The races Alfredo will run in 2020 are yet to be announced.
