H2 Motorsports Plans Part-Time Run for Rest of 2019, Hopes for Full-Time 2020 Schedule

H2 Motorsports will attempt a part-time schedule for the rest of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season before a tentative full-time 2020 run, the team announced Thursday, Sept. 5.

Formed in May 2019, H2 Motorsports has competed in seven events this season before withdrawing at Darlington Raceway.

While a driver and sponsors were not named in H2’s official release, the announcement comes on the heels of driver Shane Lee‘s release from the team, for reasons involving performance. Lee had tallied all seven of the team’s starts and scored a best finish of seventh at Iowa Speedway in July.

After its founding, the start-up team had originally planned to compete in every 2019 NXS event since Iowa in June but elected to forego the races at Watkins Glen International, Mid Ohio Sports Car Course and Road America.

In addition to its seventh-place result, the team has netted five top-20 finishes and currently sits 35th in the owner standings.
