Mick Schumacher will drive for Meyer Shank Racing in the 2027 NTT IndyCar Series season, the team announced Friday (Sept. 4). He will pilot the No. 66 Honda. ENVE Composites will sponsor.
After departing Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing at season’s end, the 27-year-old German driver will join current MSR driver Marcus Armstrong at the team next year.
RLL Racing announced in July its intention to sell one of its charters, thus downsizing, and leaving Schumacher the odd man out.
“I’m super excited to be working with everyone at Meyer Shank Racing and really excited to be joining such an ambitious team,” Schumacher stated in the team’s press release. “It’s going to be a special journey to start working with MSR. I am looking forward to what more I can learn from the team. They’ve had some really great success, and of course, going to an Indy 500-winning team is awesome.”
“He really impressed us in his first season of INDYCAR,” team co-owner Mike Shank said in the release. “It is not an easy series to come into and the competition is incredibly tight, but when you look at what he’s accomplished and the progress he’s made throughout the year, we see a lot of potential in him.”
In Schumacher’s 2026 rookie campaign he has taken an affinity to the ovals, scoring a career best eighth-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway.
The 2026 season has one race left, and will conclude Sunday, Sept. 6 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
