Elliott Sadler Secures the Pole in Iowa

It was an interesting qualifying session for the NASCAR XFINITY Series U.S. Cellular 250 as the threat of rain cast a shadow on the proceedings. Drivers like Tommy Jo Martins missed out on a shot to move forward because of light rain around the track.

With the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in Pocono this weekend, it is an all full-time NXS driver lineup as Elliott Sadler takes the pole with a 133.610 mph lap with Cole Custer locking out the front row with at 133.175 mph. It is Sadler’s first pole of the season and 17th of his XFINITY Series career. Sadler’s last win in Iowa came in August, 2012.

Christopher Bell, looking for his third consecutive win this weekend, dominated most of qualifying, but will have to settle for a starting position of third with a best lap of 133.17mph. Kyle Benjamin in the No. 18 car qualified fourth and Tyler Reddick rounds out the top five.

The rest of the top 10 is led by Austin Cindric in front of Just Allgaier, Shane Lee, Brandon Jones, and NXS points leader Daniel Hemric.

The green flag is expected to wave around 5 p.m. EST this evening on NBCSN. Ryan Preece would be the defending winner if he had entered this year race.
