Entry List: Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Alabama 500

One race down, two to go in the Round of 12 for the NASCAR Playoffs.

This weekend, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads from Charlotte Motor Speedway to the behemoth of Talladega Superspeedway for the 49th annual Alabama 500.

There are 40 cars on the preliminary entry list, meaning the field will be at full capacity, barring any entry list changes.

Some notables for this week include the addition of JJ Yeley in the No. 7 Chevrolet for Tommy Baldwin Racing and Brendan Gaughan in the No. 75 Chevrolet for Beard Motorsports. Both of those drivers and teams have raced in prior superspeedway events this season.

The No. 23 entry for BK Racing is currently listed as “TBA,” but it will be driven by Joey Gase.

Corey LaJoie, who normally drives the No. 23, is listed as the driver of the No. 83 BK Racing Toyota for this weekend.  Brett Moffitt will likely be sitting out the weekend.

Mark Thompson will be making his second ever MENCS start this weekend in the No. 15 for Premium Motorsports with sponsorship from Phoenix Air. He has one prior start in the series, which came all the way back in 1992. Despite that fact, Thompson has plenty of experience at Talladega in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, and more recently, the XFINITY Series. DJ Kennington will pilot the No. 55 entry for Premium in place of Gray Gaulding.

The green flag for the Alabama 500 is scheduled to fly at approximately 2:20 p.m. ET with television coverage on NBC. Joey Logano is the defending winner of the event.
