Thursday night got even more difficult for three Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series teams.
Following the Can-Am Duels at Daytona International Speedway, three teams, Martin Truex Jr., Chris Buescher and AJ Allmendinger, failed postrace height inspection. All three were too low for the legal requirements and will start from the rear in Sunday’s Daytona 500.
Unlike past years, this will cost the teams more than a starting spot. With points on the line in the Duels, Allmendinger’s seven points from finishing fourth will be stripped, as well as Truex’s four points from finishing seventh.
