And it’s a sweep for Carl Edwards, as the No. 19 Toyota won the final two Sprint Cup practices Friday at Kentucky Speedway.
Ripping around the freshly configured track at 28.808 seconds[187.448 mph], Edwards bested Martin Truex, Jr. by more than a tenth while Kyle Larson, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Kyle Busch completed the top 5 speeds.
The most significant moment of the session occurred early, with Kurt Busch nailing the Turn 4 wall after losing the rear of his No. 41 Chevrolet. Spinning through the pit road entry, Busch will go to a back-up car for Saturday’s Quaker State 400.
Suffering a similar issue early Friday, Jimmie Johnson made his first laps in his back-up machine, finishing the session 18th quick.
Rounding out the top 10 is polesitter Kevin Harvick, Austin Dillon, AJ Allmendinger, Brad Keselowski and Ryan Blaney.
