Decker Sisters to Attempt XFINITY Series Race at Iowa

The Decker sisters are set to embark on the next step of their journey in NASCAR.

Paige and Claire Decker will attempt to qualify for Sunday’s American Ethanol E15 250 at Iowa Speedway. Both women will be competing for Obaika Racing, with elder sister Paige in the team’s No. 97 car, which is the team’s full-time car. Claire is scheduled to run the No. 77, marking the first time the organization will have two cars at the track since its inception at the start of the 2015 season.

The younger of the two sisters, Claire, made her Camping World Truck Series debut earlier this year at Martinsville, finishing 27th in the No. 10 truck for Jennifer Jo Cobb’s team.

Paige, 23, has two prior Truck Series starts, each coming at Martinsville in Mike Harmon’s No. 74 truck. Her best finish in the pair of starts is 25th, coming in this year’s race at Martinsville, when she was involved in a spin on Lap 187 of the 255-lap contest. Initially, she attempted to qualify for her first Truck Series race in March 2015 at the short track, but DNQ’d for the race.

Obaika Racing’s No. 97 car currently sits 33rd in the XFINITY Series owner standings. Ryan Ellis (four races) and Harrison Rhodes (five races) have combined to pilot the car for the majority of the season, with TJ Bell making a start at Michigan and rookie Alex Guenete competing at Dover and Pocono.
