Friday Racing Washed Out at Charlotte

UPDATE: All on-track activity at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed due to rain. The revised Saturday schedule follows:

9:30: All-Star Practice (FOX Sports 1)
11:00: Sprint Showdown (FOX Sports 1)
12:30: North Carolina Education Lottery 200 (FOX Sports 1)
7:00: All-Star Race qualifying (FOX Sports 1)
9:00: All-Star Race (FOX Sports 1)

There will be no practice session for the Sprint Showdown.

Due to persistent rain at Charlotte Motor Speedway, qualifying for the Sprint Showdown and the Camping World Truck Series North Carolina Education Lottery 200 has been cancelled.  The fields for both races will be set according to the NASCAR rule book.

The Sprint Showdown field will be set based on owner points, with Chase Elliott starting on the pole and Austin Dillon on the front row.  Ryan Blaney, AJ Allmendinger, and Trevor Bayne will also start in the top 5.  Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.,  Kyle Larson, Paul Menard, Danica Patrick, and Greg Biffle round out the top 10.

Because the Truck Series teams practiced on Thursday, William Byron will start on the pole thanks to his top speed in the lone session.  Spencer Gallagher will share the front row with Byron.  Johnny Sauter, Ben Kennedy and Kyle Busch round out the top five, with Tyler Reddick, Daniel Suarez, Daniel Hemric, Matt Tifft and Rico Abreu completing the top 10.

Looks like Charlotte got the Talladega weather. It’s a one day show now. How is Brian going to get two days worth of ticket sales in one day. Looks like a day-night doubleheader with two crowds.
