In a tire test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Tuesday, Tony Stewart crashed as a result of what was believed to be a cut tire. Stewart was uninjured in the crash, according to a local CBS affiliate, even though he did speak with medical personnel on site. The test itself was closed to the media.
Stewart’s crash occurred during a two-day tire test where he was one of six drivers participating. Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, and Ryan Newman are also participating. The test is in preparation for the Brickyard 400 which will run on July 27th.
Team engineer Chris Chidgey posted this photo of the damage on Instagram:

Stewart, a two-time winner of the Brickyard 400, began the 2014 season following a lengthy recovery from a broken leg sustained in a sprint car race last season. The 43-year-old driver is currently 16th in points after 15 races this season with an average finish of 17th.
