NASCAR Schedules Michigan Test for New Rules Package

The new NASCAR rules package for 2016 will be featured in an Oct. 20 test at Michigan International Speedway.

Three teams are expected to participate in the test session: Denny Hamlin for Joe Gibbs Racing, Chase Elliott with Hendrick Motorsports and Chris Buescher for Roush Fenway Racing.

NASCAR has run four races in the 2015 season with the intent to use the package for 2016. At Kentucky and Darlington NASCAR featured a low-downforce package, which was well-received by fans. It also ran a high drag package at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Michigan International Speedway.

NASCAR has not announced its plans for the 2016 package at this time.
