The changes come after fires on the cars of JJ Yeley and Kevin Harvick.
Kevin Harvick held off a hard-charging Christopher Bell and Chris Buescher in the closing laps of the NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway to earn his second consecutive victory in 2022.
After Kevin Harvick broke his Cup winless streak, who’s next?
Kevin Harvick thinks it’s “embarrassing” NASCAR isn’t racing on Indianapolis’ historic oval. But AJ Allmendinger doesn’t believe the Brickyard 400 should return just for the sake of tradition.
We’re slowly starting to see the effects of this now years-long bump, such as an NBC Sports column where Kevin Harvick lamented on how popular Formula 1 has gotten with his son and his friend group.
Kyle Larson took the lead away from Kevin Harvick in the closing laps and held on to win at Bristol Motor Speedway Saturday (Sept. 18). Lapped traffic was a factor all night, allowing cars in second place to close in on the leader. Such was the case near the end of the race; Larson went to the bottom and then back up the track, squeezing Harvick a bit. The No. 5 of Hendrick Motorsports then slid up in front of Harvick, preventing the No. 4 from getting another run on Larson.
The Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race Sept. 18 displayed various storylines throughout the night. Heavyweight drivers battled all night, desperate playoff drivers wrung out every last drop of effort to make the Round of 12, and a confrontation between Chase Elliott and Kevin Harvick took center stage on a captivating evening at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Even with changes in recent years to change things, the need for clean air is still apparent on intermediate tracks, and it really showed on Saturday. Even Kevin Harvick, who easily had the best car in the field when out front, struggled to make any headway when he was in traffic.
Some drivers just sneak up on you, and so far in 2014, Brian Vickers has been one of those drivers. He’s quietly put together some strong runs, including his fourth-place finish in Talladega this week. Vickers wasn’t totally stealthy on Sunday; he did lead three times during the race. The No. 55 team does still have some holes to patch (they’re not yet consistent enough to be a title threat), but Vickers sits 10th in points. That’s ahead of race winners Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch, as well as three-time champion Tony Stewart and teammate Clint Bowyer. Vickers still needs to win to lock down a Chase spot, but he’s making a case for that happening.
