Christian Lundgaard will join Chip Ganassi Racing in the NTT IndyCar Series in 2027, the team announced Sept. 29.
Lundgaard will drive the No. 9 in a multiyear deal to replace Scott Dixon, who has replaced Lundgaard at McLaren.
PNC Bank will sponsor the effort.
“It is an honor and a privilege to join Chip Ganassi Racing beginning next season,” Lundgaard said in a team release. “The fact that it is in the iconic No. 9 PNC Bank Honda makes it even more special.
“CGR has set the standard in INDYCAR for decades, and the opportunity to be part of that legacy is something I’ve worked toward my entire career. I’m incredibly excited about what’s ahead. I can’t wait to get to work with everyone at Chip Ganassi Racing and compete for wins, championships, and the Indianapolis 500.”
Lundgaard also joins a star-studded lineup at Ganassi with the likes of five-time champion Alex Palou and Kyffin Simpson.

Lundgaard was the 2022 IndyCar Rookie of the Year for Rahal Lanigan Letterman Racing before joining McLaren in 2025.
He is a three-time race winner in the IndyCar Series, with one win coming in 2023 with RLL and his other two coming in 2026 with McLaren. In 2026, he finished third in points.
