Layne Riggs was the fastest in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series qualifying Friday (July 17), and will start on the pole for Saturday’s race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.
It is Riggs’ second consecutive pole in the Truck Series and sixth overall. Setting a time of 121.608 mph (18.502 seconds), it is the quickest qualifying time at the track in a truck.
Carson Hocevar will line up to Riggs’ outside, with fellow NASCAR Cup Series driver Christopher Bell starting third for Halmar Friesen Racing.
Winner of this race in 2024, Corey Heim qualified fourth in TRICON Garage’s No. 5 Toyota Tundra. TRICON teammate Gio Ruggiero rounds out the top five.
Chase Elliott set the sixth-fastest qualifying time, making a start in Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado. Kaden Honeycutt will start seventh, and last week’s Lime Rock Park winner Grant Enfinger will start eighth.
Defending winner at North Wilkesboro in the Truck Series, Chandler Smith qualified ninth. Stewart Friesen will roll off 10th.
Landon Huffman and Timmy Hill failed to qualify, with Hill not setting a time.
