This week on Bringing the Heat With Trey Lyle, Michael Waltrip joins to talk his off-track endeavors through Michael Waltrip Brewing.
What started as an idea out on the golf course turned into a growing business. The goal is to “try something new and different,” and Waltrip said he feels the brewers “have made some really tasty beers.”
One new flavor recently announced is a breakfast-inspired beer, described as a cinnamon roll ale inspired by Famous Toastery. With that flavor set to debut later this month, Waltrip dives into the fun and the challenges of running his own brewery.
Waltrip and Lyle do talk a little racing as well, including reviewing the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Naval Base Coronado. The two also brief the In-Season Challenge.
After the interview, Caleb Barnes joins to go over this week’s hottest topics. That includes speculating on the future of Alex Bowman. Barnes says thinks the decision is in the hands of Bowman, who has a few factors to weigh, including his health and his desire to be on the racetrack.
There’s also rumbling about whether or not Dodge may reenter the NASCAR Cup Series as early as 2027. Barnes says it would be too rushed for the manufacturer to try to jump in as soon as next season, while Lyle shares hopes to see the automaker back in NASCAR’s top level.
In this week’s soundbite, Connor Zilisch recaps his career-best finish at Sonoma Raceway, listing it as “something to build off.” Barnes and Lyle debate if this marks a turning point for the rookie who has had a difficult year to this point.
