Shane van Gisbergen Captures 3rd Consecutive Sonoma O’Reilly Pole

Shane van Gisbergen set the fastest qualifying time on Friday (June 26) at Sonoma Raceway, giving Chevrolet its 500th pole in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

The No. 9 set a time of 75.029 seconds with an average speed of 95.483 mph.

van Gisbergen is in search of his second win at Sonoma in the O’Reilly Series, with a victory at the track in 2024 and a second-place finish last year.

Rookie Brent Crews, looking for his first NASCAR win, will start on the outside of the front row. After a runner-up finish last week at Naval Base Coronado, Taylor Gray qualified third.

The pair of Viking Motorsports Chevrolets, Anthony Alfredo and Parker Retzlaff, rounded out the top five.

Corey Day will line up in sixth, with Jesse Love and Justin Allgaier behind in row four.

Sam Mayer, a four time winner on road courses in the O’Reilly Series, qualified ninth. Austin Hill, winner at the Coronado circuit last week, completed the top 10.

Connor Zilisch had a flat tire in the session. He is set to start 30th but will likely have to start from the rear for changing a tire.

With 38 cars for 38 spots, every team entered made the show.
