Kyle Busch’s Cause of Death Revealed In Statement From Family

The cause of future NASCAR Hall of Famer Kyle Busch’s tragic and sudden death on Thursday afternoon (May 21) was revealed in a statement from the Busch family on Saturday morning.

“The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications,” the statement read.

Busch’s health concerns were first publicized after he came over his team’s radio during the race at Watkins Glen International on May 10, asking to find a doctor to meet him after the race for a shot.

The following week, he won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Dover Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon (May 15) and ran in the All-Star Race that Sunday. While speaking to reporters, Busch mentioned that his cough was still “not great” and it was “pretty substantial” the previous week.

Busch turned 41 on May 2, and he leaves behind his wife Samantha and two children, Brexton and Lennix.
