Truck Qualifying at Charlotte Canceled, Corey Day Starting 1st

Due to inclement weather, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series qualifying at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been canceled. As a result, the starting lineup was set via the rule book. As such, Corey Day will start first.

Day will drive the Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 Chevrolet tonight (May 22), a truck originally intended for Kyle Busch.

Busch’s win at Dover Motor Speedway last week and the No. 7’s position in the standings will see Day leading the Truck Series field to the green for the second time in his career.

Layne Riggs will start alongside Day. Points leader Kaden Honeycutt and Ty Majeski will start third and fourth, respectively. Brandon Jones rounds out the top top five.

Leland Honeyman will start sixth for Halmar Friesen Racing, with Christian Eckes starting seventh. Chandler Smith and Jake Garcia will start eighth and ninth, respectively, while Corey LaJoie will round out the top 10.

Caleb Costner is the only DNQ.

Both practice and qualifying were canceled due to inclement weather. To hopefully avoid further delays due to Mother Nature, the Truck Series start time has been pushed up to 7 p.m. ET.
