UPDATE: A damp day at Charlotte Motor Speedway canceled most of the on-track action and significantly postponed the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts race. As a result, the Truck Series race was pushed back again, this time to 10 a.m. ET Sunday morning. Race coverage is still set to run on FOX Sports 1.
UPDATE: Persistent mist and light rain delayed the Truck Series race once again Saturday morning, despite NASCAR’s best efforts to dry the track. It’s now scheduled to run at 9 p.m. ET.
Due to inclement weather, today’s (May 22) NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 23, at 8 a.m. ET with TV coverage on FOX Sports 1.
Knowing that large amounts of rain were coming on Friday night, the start of the race had been moved up. Nevertheless, the Truck Series field had not been able to take the green flag tonight before inclement weather arrived.
Practice and qualifying for the Truck Series field also were canceled on Friday. As a result, the field was set via the rule book with Corey Day starting first.
The Truck Series race would become an official race at lap 60 with the completion of stage two.
With a full day of track activities and potential for severe weather tomorrow, the NC Education Lottery 200 will occur early Saturday, with NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series qualifying, NASCAR Cup Series qualifying, and the O’Reilly Series race happening later in the day.
