Kyle Larson Wins O’Reilly Texas Race After Late Battle With Justin Allgaier

For the second season in a row, Kyle Larson took the checkered flag at Texas Motor Speedway in the No. 88 car for JR Motorsports in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series after holding off points leader Justin Allgaier in the closing laps.

It’s his third win in the series at Texas and 19th overall, winning his second race of the 2026 season in four starts.

“I really didn’t think I had a chance with Justin (Allgaier) behind me,” Larson told The CW broadcast on the frontstretch. “I was trying to do what I could to take his air away while also maintaining a good corner for myself but he was always closing on me.”

Allgaier finished runner-up, Sam Mayer was third, Brent Crews crossed the line in fourth to win the Dash 4 Cash $100,000 prize, and Parker Retzlaff took home fifth.

“I’m just disappointed, our Roto-Rooter Chevy was really good,” Allgaier told The CW broadcast on pit road. “Without contact, I don’t know that there’s any way to get around him (Larson) and I tried every lane I could possibly try.”

Sheldon Creed, Austin Hill, Brandon Jones, Jesse Love and Jeremy Clements completed the top 10.

Allgaier started on pole and won a caution-filled opening stage. A first-lap accident knocked out last week’s winner Corey Day and also involved Taylor Gray and William Sawalich. Other crashes in the first stage involved Austin Green, Mason Maggio, Brad Perez and Lavar Scott.

Connor Zilisch won the second stage but had a tire go down in the final stage that relegated him to a 21st-place finish as the first car a lap down.

Justin Allgaier increased his points lead up to 121 points over Sheldon Creed. Sam Mayer’s third-place run got him into the final Chase spot, eight points ahead of Ryan Sieg, 12 ahead of Brent Crews, and 14 ahead of Rajah Caruth. Caruth dropped out of The Chase after finishing 34th due to a crash with 22 laps to go.
