This week on Bringing the Heat with Trey Lyle, Taylor Gray joins Lyle and Michael Massie ahead of the Martinsville race on March 28. Gray recalls his friendship with his current car owner, Ty Gibbs, and his confidence level in year two of driving for Joe Gibbs Racing in the O’Reilly Series.
The Martinsville racetrack also has a history with Gray, who had two wins stolen at the Paperclip before Gray drove to victory lane for the first time in the fall of 2025. So far in 2026, Gray believes his No. 54 team has some work to do to find some consistency at the front.
Following the interview, Chris Graham joins Lyle to catch up on this week’s trending topics. To start, the two jump in with the latest on the Chris Gabehart versus Joe Gibbs Racing legal tussle. That included a complaint the race team had against Gabehart’s appearance at the track.
Another popular subject following the spring Bristol weekend is the viewership, rating and attendance numbers. The two share their level of worry for the sport given the continually declining viewership.
This week’s soundbite is from Ryan Blaney, who reviewed his runner-up finish and pit crew efforts at Bristol. Lyle and Graham debate whether or not Blaney’s pit crew will ultimately be the deciding factor on whether or not the No. 12 team can take home the championship under this new format.
