In Saturday’s (Oct. 18) NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway, a big crash broke out involving several drivers toward the end of stage two. Among the drivers involved was William Sawalich, who was transported to a local hospital after getting hit against the wall from multiple angles midway through the United Rentals 250.
The crash began when Leland Honeyman got turned and made contact with Connor Mosack as the field went four wide heading into turn 1. Mosack was sent back across the track into both Sawalich and Dean Thompson, resulting in heavy damage for all involved.
All drivers were treated and released except for Sawalich, who was transported to a local hospital after an extended evaluation in the infield care center. No details on potential injuries have been given.
UPDATE: Joe Gibbs Racing confirmed to Frontstretch Sawalich has been released from the hospital as of early Sunday morning. The information was first reported by Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports.
