Ryan Blaney Holds Off Josh Berry, Wins at New Hampshire

Ryan Blaney won Sunday’s (Sept. 21) Mobil 1 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, claiming his third victory of the 2025 season and advancing to the Round of 8.

Blaney passed Josh Berry for the lead with 39 laps to go and held him off the rest of the way, though Berry pushed to pace and held him honest in the closing laps.

“That was maybe the hardest 20 laps that I drove,” Blaney told USA Network. “I was trying to mind my stuff and pull Josh a little bit. He really started coming. I saw him get super free. It was all I could do to hold him off.”

Berry, William Byron, Joey Logano and Chase Elliott finished out the top-five, with Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, Michael McDowell, Ross Chastain and Chase Briscoe completing the top 10.

“Definitely an awesome day,” Berry said of his runner up run, which followed a miserable run of early exits that knocked him out of playoff contention in the Round of 16. “Hats off to Ryan at the end. All our cars were really strong. Ryan did a great job there.”

Byron was happy to be best in class among Chevrolet drivers at a track that’s given him a challenge in the Cup Series.

“Good day overall,” Byron said. “[I] felt like a lot of things that we’d just kinda been building on the short tracks were working for us. This place has always been tricky for me in the Cup car. I felt like we could really stack runs together. Once we got dialed away, we were really strong.”

Before the race’s final caution, Blaney was in a dogfight for the lead with polesitter Logano, who led the most laps with 147. The 2023 champion passed Logano for the race lead with 74 laps to go and had a four-second advantage following the final round of green flag pit stops. With 48 laps to go, Cody Ware brought out the yellow flag, which led to Elliott and Berry staying out and a host of cars – including Blaney and Logano – pitting for two tires.

Blaney won stage one, with Logano taking stage two.

The biggest drama came from Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Denny Hamlin and Ty Gibbs. On Lap 110, Hamlin spun Gibbs in turn 1 after growing frustrated with how aggressively Gibbs had been racing him. Gibbs had previously made contact with Hamlin early in stage two.
