Stewart Friesen will not seek to attain a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series playoff waiver, Halmar Friesen Racing posted on X Aug. 14.
Friesen was injured in a crash in the Super DIRTcar Series race on July 28, suffering multiple fractures to his pelvis and leg.
“Halmar Friesen Racing has elected not to pursue a driver waiver for Stewart Friesen for the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs,” the team stated. “We look forward to chasing a driver’s championship with Kaden Honeycutt and continuing the owner’s title push when the Playoffs begin.”
Friesen had qualified for the playoffs when he won at Michigan International Speedway. With the withdrawal of the playoff waiver bid, that leaves six drivers with wins locked in, and Grant Enfinger, Ty Majeski, Kaden Honeycutt and Jake Garcia currently in on points with one race left of the regular season. Ben Rhodes and Gio Ruggiero are 11 and 21 points below the cut line, respectively.
Christopher Bell piloted the No. 52 at Watkins Glen International to a fourth-place finish. Honeycutt is set to take over starting this weekend at Richmond Raceway.
The final race of the regular season at Richmond airs Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
