Connor Zilisch, Trackhouse Withdrawing From Watkins Glen Cup Race After Victory Lane Fall

Trackhouse Racing has withdrawn its No. 87, to be driven by Connor Zilisch, for tomorrow’s (Aug. 10) NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International, the team announced Aug. 9.

Zilisch broke his collarbone after falling from his car in victory lane after winning the Aug. 9 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the track.

When Zilisch went to stand on his car’s roof in victory lane, he fell from the car and hit the ground. He was transported to the infield care center by ambulance and then to a local hospital for further evaluation.

In a post earlier Saturday night, Zilisch said he had left the hospital and that CT scans on his head were “clear.”

Zilisch’s status past Watkins Glen is unknown. The Xfinity Series is off next weekend and returns to the track on Aug. 22 at Daytona International Speedway.

He previously missed a race earlier this season at Texas Motor Speedway following a crash at Talladega Superspeedway in which he injured his back.

Zilisch had qualified 25th for the Cup race, which was to be his fourth start in the series. The Aug. 10 race will feature a 39-car starting grid.
