The Pit Straight: IndyCar Race Control Throws Caution to the Wind

The NTT IndyCar Series ran in tandem with Formula 1 this weekend, but both left fans wanting more from what was seen on track this weekend.

As Alex Palou rode to the California sunset with his eighth win of 2025, race control decided to ignore cautions for Rinus VeeKay and Marcus Ericsson, both stranded on dangerous areas of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca before throwing the yellow laps later. Wyatt Watson, Alex Gintz and this weekend’s at-track reporter Bryan Nolen share their displeasure with race control’s decision-making.

Plus, the three give their take on what can be learned from this weekend’s race at the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa-Francorchamps as Oscar Piastri notched one more win over McLaren teammate Lando Norris.
