Dover Motor Speedway hosts the 10th race of the 2025 ARCA Menards Series season. The General Tire 150 will be a combination race with the ARCA Menards Series East, the first of four straight combos to wrap up its season.
Twenty-five drivers are entered for the race, the second-ever one at Dover for ARCA and the 35th for the East.
There is one driver who has won in ARCA competition at Dover before: Jake Finch.
Finch won the 2023 East race at Dover, dominating on the strength of leading 89 of the 127 laps.
He’ll use the ARCA race as preparation for attempting his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Dover the following day. Finch will drive the No. 25 Toyota for Venturini Motorsports in ARCA competition and the No. 17 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in Xfinity. Finch undoubtedly is the favorite to win the ARCA race.
Even though the two drivers who led the most laps last year in the ARCA race competed for different race teams.
Pinnacle Racing Group went to victory lane with Connor Zilisch and Joe Gibbs Racing wheelman William Sawalich scored the pole and led the most laps.
Brenden “Butterbean” Queen will make his first start at The Monster Mile. His team knows how to succeed there. In addition to Zilisch’s win in 2024, PRG scored third-place results in ’23 and ’24.
Butterbean is chasing not only the driver’s championship but also the owner’s championship for PRG. The No. 28 trails the No. 18 by 11 points in the standings.
Brent Crews straps into the JGR No. 18 for the second straight race and third overall. Driving the No. 18, Ty Gibbs won the ’23 East race at Dover, so the team will be strong.
Crews also has a slight advantage. He competed in the race last year. While he qualified second, electrical issues derailed his race, ultimately resulting in a 16th-place DNF. Nevertheless, Crews’ talent plus the top-tier No. 18 team should have him up front all race.
Second-in-points Lawless Alan lacks experience at Dover but he has Kevin Reed Jr. atop his pit box. Reed guided Conner Jones to a ninth-place effort in ’23 and gave Crews a fast racecar last year, albeit before the mechanical gremlins. Reed will make sure Alan has a fast No. 20 Toyota.
Likewise, Rev Racing will work hard to ensure Lavar Scott has a successful race weekend. Scott is also attempting his NXS debut at Dover, and he has a pair of top fives in two ARCA starts there.
“Dover is definitely a rhythm track,” Scott told ARCA Racing. “Those types of tracks are where I’ve been really strong at I would say. Look at Elko [Speedway]. It’s a short-rhythm track, and we have pace there. Last year’s Bristol [Motor Speedway] race and last year’s Dover race, all these tracks where you need to get a rhythm and make laps, I’m really strong at.”
Scott trails Queen by 17 points and Alan by eight. A win would aid his title hopes, plus finally get that monkey off his back.
“A win would be a huge weight off my shoulders,” Scott added. “It’s something I’ve been trying to do for the past two years in this ARCA car. We’ve been really close at certain times, but something’s always happened. I’m still working towards it and the ARCA championship. I’m trying to find a way to balance it all, and I think I’ve become really well at doing that. We definitely have a chance to win the ARCA race, and I’m excited for that, as well.”
In the East points, Isaac Kitzmiller leads Tyler Reif by six points. Kitzmiller will be competing in the four combo races with his father Jason Kitzmiller, a full-time ARCA national driver.
“It’s going to feel good to climb back in an ARCA Menards Series car this weekend at Dover Motor Speedway,” Isaac Kitzmiller said in a press release. “Dover may be one of the of biggest challenges for me and our A.L.L. Construction Racing team, but we’re approaching the race with the same mindset that has allowed us to carry the points lead for the last two races.”
The Kitzmillers have raced against each other before, but this will be their first head-to-head in ARCA.
“It’s definitely special to race against my dad – especially at a place like Dover,” Isaac continued. “We’re both competitive, but there’s a lot of respect there. To be able to share the track with him on this kind of stage is something I won’t forget.”
“I’m looking forward to racing against Isaac this weekend,” Jason Kitzmiller added in a press release. “It’s another special family moment in this chapter of our racing journey. We’ll both be making our Dover Motor Speedway debut, so our goals are pretty similar going in.”
“If we can leave Dover with both cars inside the top 10, it’ll feel like a win and give our organization some great momentum heading into the next few weeks.”
Jason Kitzmiller sits fourth in ARCA national points.
“We’ve got to get through Dover first, but after that, the second half of the year takes us to a lot of places I’ve never raced before,” he continued. “I’m hoping that with the knowledge and experience of my crew chief, Frank Kimmel, we can adapt quickly and keep stacking up those top-10 finishes.”
The 25 drivers will do battle on Friday, July 18, at 5 p.m. ET with TV coverage provided by FOX Sports 1.
