Christopher Bell Wins NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro

Christopher Bell won Sunday’s (May 18) NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway, passing Joey Logano with nine laps to go to earn his first All-Star Race victory.

Bell, who took two tires on the final pit stop of the night, passed Logano and drove away to win the $1 million prize.

“That right there is absolutely incredible,” Bell told Fox Sports. “Without (the pit crew), I’m nobody.”

Logano led 139 laps, but his worn tires were no match for Bell in the closing laps.

“I thought may be we could hold ’em off, but the No. 20 had a good enough restart to clear too many of them too fast,” Logano said. “I couldn’t get away in time. I did all I could do to hold them off. He got under me, released the brake and had no option, (he) kinda just ran me up into the wall.”

Ross Chastain started and finished third but was also at a tire disadvantage late in the race.

“Once we got to the front, we tend to stay there a little better,” Chastain said. “We just couldn’t stay there at the start of the race.”

Chase Elliott finished fifth, but like Chastain, was unable to reach the leaders.

“It looked like an amazing race for the win,” Elliott said. “Wish we could’ve been a part of it. Hope everybody enjoyed that. We were in the mix, just needed a little bit to be there with the 20 and Joey.”

Logano, Chastain, Alex Bowman, Elliott, William Byron, Tyler Reddick, Kyle Busch, Chase Briscoe and Chris Buescher rounded out the top 10.

Despite driving up as high as seventh from his 19th-place starting position, a broken toe link derailed Kyle Larson‘s day, as he finished 21st, three laps down. Crashes caused by blown tires also took out Brad Keselowski and Daniel Suarez, who did not finish the race.
