Cup Standings After Darlington
For 80% of Sunday’s (April 6) Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway, William Byron was pitching a perfect game. He started on the pole and led the first 243 laps, only surrendering the lead for his green flag pit stop of the day.
Unfortunately for him, it was a lead he never saw again. The No. 24 struggled in traffic, and Tyler Reddick looked to be the man with a five-second lead with 45 to go after pit stops. But Ryan Blaney had the freshest tires of the leaders with the best long-run car in the field, and he came from more than 12 seconds down to take the lead from Reddick with four to go — just as Kyle Larson crashed off of turn 2 for the second time of the day.
Denny Hamlin — sporting a mid-2000s Carl Edwards paint scheme — won the race off pit road and held on to score back-to-back NASCAR Cup Series wins for the first time since 2012. Byron made his way back up to second and now sports a 49-point lead over Hamlin in the regular season standings. Blaney had to settle for fifth — a career-best for him at Darlington — after losing three spots on the final pit stop.

Xfinity Standings After Darlington
Justin Allgaier looked like the dominant car yet again, but a slow pit stop in the final stage put him mid-pack and allowed Brandon Jones — sporting a 2013 Matt Kenseth throwback — to take control of the race. Jones went on to win by 1.105 seconds over Chase Elliott, and he ended a 98-race winless streak with the sixth win of his NASCAR Xfinity Series career. It was also his second Darlington win after taking the checkered flag in 2020.
Allgaier rebounded to finish third, and he now commands a 71-point lead in the regular season standings — more than one full race over second place Sam Mayer.
Sammy Smith was penalized 50 points following his actions at Martinsville Speedway, and he now sits just five points above the playoff cut line.

NOTE: Part-time drivers like Aric Almirola who are eligible for series points but ineligible for the championship will not be displayed in these graphics.
