Progressive Insurance Joins Denny Hamlin for 18 Races

Joe Gibbs Racing announced Tuesday (March 18) that Progressive Insurance will join the team as primary sponsor for 18 races on Denny Hamlin‘s No. 11 Toyota this season. They will serve as the main sponsor for the team, in addition to Yahoo, Sport Clips, ampm and National Debt Relief.

“This is a huge deal for our No. 11 team and everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing,” Hamlin stated in a press release. “We’re really looking forward to having Progressive on board and being able to deliver for them on and off the racetrack. For me, it’s exciting to team up with a brand like Progressive that is so innovative with their marketing and the different ways you seem them activate. I can’t wait to get going with them starting this weekend.”

“Progressive is a premiere national brand and a leader in the insurance industry. We are thrilled to have them partner with Denny [Hamlin] and our No. 11 team,” said Joe Gibbs, owner of JGR. “We all know that NASCAR fans love being active, and on the move, whether it is in their cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats or recreational vehicles, and we look forward to raising awareness on how Progressive can protect them and their families.”

As Hamlin stated, Progressive’s first race as his primary sponsor will be Sunday’s Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. They’ll also sponsor the team at Martinsville (March), Bristol (April), Talladega (April), Texas, Kansas (May), North Wilkesboro, Nashville, Pocono, Chicago, Dover, Indianapolis, Watkins Glen, Richmond, Gateway, Loudon, Charlotte (Oct.) and Phoenix. They will also be an associate sponsor on the car for the 14 races where they will not be the primary sponsor.

Hamlin spent nearly his entire career prior to this year with primary sponsorship from FedEx. However, the shipping company slowly wound down their backing until they fully left the team after 20 seasons at the end of 2024. Gaining the Progressive backing fills in a lot of the sponsorship holes for the No. 11 team.

For Progressive, this will not be the first foray into the NASCAR Cup Series. In 2020, the insurance giant served as the primary sponsor of Ryan Newman‘s No. 6 in races at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway. Newman finished 14th and 15th in those races. As compared to the previous sponsorship, which took place during a COVID-19 ravaged season, the new partnership will be exponentially bigger.
