Following a week of constant criticism and critiquing of NASCAR’s inconsistency for throwing a yellow flag to end a race, we most likely won’t see that this weekend. With the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series taking on the new 2.3-mile, 20-turn road course at Circuit of the Americas, a full course caution shouldn’t be needed to determine the outcome of the race this weekend.
IMSA will also be joining in on the festivities this weekend with the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge for the first-time since 2013. The two races for IMSA will take place before and after the Xfinity Series race on Saturday (9:40 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET). They say everything is bigger in Texas, so here’s hoping the new layout delivers in a big way for NASCAR this weekend.
Pre-Race Entertainment:
Rising country music star, Corey Kent, will perform a pre-race concert on Sunday ahead of the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix. Kent is known for his hit song “Wild As Her” which reached number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. Kent was also nominated for Breakthrough Male Video of the Year at the 2023 CMT Awards.
Dance duo Funkanometry returns to the race track this weekend following their dance competition at Atlanta Motor Speedway. You can catch them in the Fan Zone on Saturday and Sunday. The galactic empire will be taking over the Fan Zone this weekend as America & Britain’s Got Talent alumni Boogie Storm will be performing their entertaining dance moves for those in attendance. On Sunday at 10:45 a.m. CT, huge Star Wars fan Ryan Blaney will stop by and interact with Boogie Storm.
Grand Marshal:
Jack Quaid will be serving as the Grand Marshall for the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix. Quaid will be there promoting his new movie ‘Novocaine’. Quaid has appeared in movies such as Oppenheimer, Scream (2022) and NASCAR heist movie Logan Lucky.
