Hendrick’s Xfinity Car Back for 16 Races

Hendrick Motorsports’ No. 17 NASCAR Xfinity Series car is back for 16 races this season, Hendrick announced Feb. 19.

The team’s schedule begins with 2025 Daytona 500 champion William Byron competing at Circuit of the Americas on March 1.

Former JR Motorsports crew chief Adam Wall will call the shots for Hendrick’s Xfinity entry, which will see all four of the organization’s Cup drivers get seat time.

Corey Day will also make his debut with the team, as previously reported, though his full schedule is now known as a result of the announcement.

“We’re pleased to continue our sponsorship of the No. 17 team, which has driven significant traffic to HendrickCars.com and helped support the broader goals of Hendrick Automotive Group,” team owner Rick Hendrick said in a statement.

“With Adam, we have one of the sharpest young crew chiefs in the garage area leading our team,” Hendrick said. “The Xfinity Series competition is tough, and we’re looking forward to the challenge.”

Wall previously called the shots for JR Motorsports drivers Sammy Smith and Brandon Jones.

“Hendrick Motorsports has opened up a lot of doors for me,” Wall said. “Because of the valuable experience I’ve gained, I feel very prepared for this opportunity. I’m excited about the chance to go racing with our Cup drivers and work with a young talent like Corey. Anyone who follows dirt knows he’s the real deal. We have high expectations as a team and look forward to a great year.”

Alex Bowman will jump in the car at home track Phoenix Raceway (March 8), followed by Kyle Larson at Homestead-Miami Speedway (March 22). Chase Elliott‘s lone start will come at Darlington Raceway on NASCAR’s annual throwback weekend.

Larson will also return at Bristol Motor Speedway, while Byron will come back at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Day will race the majority of races for Hendrick, competing in 10 of the scheduled 16 races for the team beginning at Martinsville Speedway (March 29). Should he qualify, the race will mark Day’s series debut. His full schedule can be found here.

Going back to the 2022 Xfinity season, the No. 17 car has scored two victories, 11 top fives and 13 top ten finishes in 20 starts with a variety of drivers.
