Connor Zilisch Scores Dominant Watkins Glen ARCA Win

In the General Tire 100 from Watkins Glen International, Connor Zilisch led flag-to-flag en route to his fifth win in only six starts in the ARCA Menards Series. Kicking off the weekend in which he will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut, Zilisch left no doubt as he trounced the field in a convincing victory.

Zilisch faced no real challenge on the afternoon, with second-place finisher William Sawalich never posing any real threat as he trailed by 10+ seconds for nearly the whole race. While Zilisch was in a class of his own, Sawalich was the best of the rest of the field.

Xfinity Series regular and former ARCA Watkins Glen winner Brandon Jones finished the day right where he started in third, while ARCA points leader Andres Perez charged from the rear to score a solid fourth-place finish to aid in his pursuit of the championship.

Connor Mosack capped off a great day for Sigma Performance Services with a fifth-place finish in his first start with the team.

Gio Ruggiero carried the flag for Venturini Motorsports on the day, as he brought home his team’s best finish with a sixth-place effort. Thomas Annunziata followed him home in the seventh running position to score yet another top 10 on the year with his limited schedule.

Lavar Scott’s eighth-place finish landed both Rev Racing cars inside the top 10, while a debuting Ryan Gemmell scored an impressive ninth-place finish for NEMCO Motorsports.

Dylan Lupton recovered from an early spin to score a 10th-place finish for Rette Jones Racing.

In one of the most prevalent stories on the day, Cayden Lapcevich, who is normally Toni Breidinger’s crew chief, came into the race in relief of his driver and finished the race 17th, one lap down. Breidinger, recovering from a foot injury, stated in a post-race interview that she intends to race the series’ next event at Bristol Motor Speedway.
