Ryan Newman will pilot MBM Motorsports’ No. 66 Ford Mustang during the Contender Boats 300 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, MBM announced Oct. 5.
It will be Newman’s first attempt at an Xfinity start since 2012, when he finished 19th at Texas Motor Speedway for Turner Motorsports.
“Homestead is one of my favorite tracks on the schedule,” Newman said in a team release. “From being able to rip the fence to having to manage tire wear, the track suits my driving style perfectly. My goal is to give Carl [Long, owner], MBM Motorsports and their partners a fantastic run and hopefully end the evening in victory lane.”
Added Long, “I have known Ryan since his rookie season in the Cup Series and when the opportunity presented itself to have him join us in Miami, it was a no brainer to elevate our organization.”
GenerX Generations will sponsor the effort.
Newman has made five NASCAR Cup Series starts in 2023, with a best finish of 27th at Darlington Raceway for Rick Ware Racing.
MBM has competed part time in Xfinity in 2023, with seven different drivers making at least one start. Sage Karam has the season’s top finish, 23rd at Texas Motor Speedway.
