Before he attempts his NASCAR Cup Series debut at the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt track, Jonathan Davenport will also try to make his premiere NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.
Davenport will drive Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 at the track, Spire announced April 3.
Nutrien Ag Solutions will sponsor the effort.
“I’m really excited to run for Spire Motorsports in the truck race and make one of the biggest weekends of my racing career even bigger,” Davenport said in a team release. “Being able to get in a truck for a team that has proven they can get it done will only boost my confidence for the weekend. With the added track time in the Nutrien Ag Solutions No. 7 Silverado, hopefully it’ll shorten my learning curve for both races.”
Davenport is also driving in the Cup race, wheeling the No. 13 for Kaulig Racing.
The dirt ace made one previous Truck attempt, failing to qualify at Martinsville Speedway in 2013 for Make Motorsports.
He’s the third driver to pilot the No. 7 in 2023, following Corey LaJoie and Alex Bowman.
