Tyler Reddick kicked off his 2023 NASCAR Cup Series road course schedule right, topping practice for the series’ Circuit of the America race on Friday, March 24.
Reddick’s No. 45 for 23XI Racing topped the charts at 92.989 mph.
His 23XI teammate Bubba Wallace also showed early speed for the weekend, placing eighth in the session at 92.433 mph.
Reddick’s practice-winning time was half a second quicker than the next best, Kyle Larson, who turned a speed of 92.618 mph.
Defending COTA winner Ross Chastain was third, with Kyle Busch and Daniel Suarez rounding out the top five.
Michael McDowell, Austin Cindric, Wallace, Joey Logano and Jordan Taylor completed the top 10. Taylor is making his series debut, filling in for the injured Chase Elliott in Hendrick Motorsports’ No. 9.
The other driver debuting this weekend, Jenson Button, wound up 28th in Rick Ware Racing’s No. 15.
Kimi Raikkonen, returning for his second Cup start in Trackhouse Racing’s No. 91, placed 32nd.
All 39 cars took at least one lap during the session, which after a delayed start featured just one stoppage for debris.

Qualifying for the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix will take place Saturday, March 25, at 11:30 a.m. ET, with the race following on Sunday, March 26 at 3:30 p.m. ET. FOX will provide TV coverage.
