William Byron will return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports for three races in 2023, the team announced March 9.
KBM will first have Byron in the No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado for the dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Events at Darlington Raceway and North Wilkesboro Motor Speedway will follow.
All three races will be sponsored by HendrickCars.com.
“Having William return to KBM for three races is going to be beneficial for our team owner Kyle Busch said in a release. “You expect that he’ll compete for the win each time out, he’ll provide valuable feedback to Brian Pattie and our other crew chiefs and when it comes to the development drivers that we’ve had come through KBM, his race preparation is second to none, so he’ll be a valuable asset as a teammate to the young drivers we have in the building.”
“I am so excited to return to racing with KBM,” Byron added. “I’m looking forward to getting back in their truck and hopefully having some fun for these three races. These are three cool racetracks we’re paired up for and I’m interested in running at them since I haven’t raced there in a truck before.”
Byron returns to the team for which he won seven Truck races in 2016 while piloting its No. 9. He last competed in the series last year, winning at Martinsville Speedway for Spire Motorsports.
He’s the third driver to be announced to the No. 51 for 2023, following Busch and Jack Wood.
Byron runs full time in the NASCAR Cup Series, with one win so far in 2023.
